This is a geeky post… but I need to do this every once in a while. I’m becoming less geek over the last few years but I still enjoy geeky stuff every now and then. Take the new Ubuntu it is wonderful! I upgraded last night and it only interacted with me a few times. The upgrade was smooth and flawless on my HP tx2110us tablet laptop. Once it booted into Ubuntu for the first time it was snazzy! The response time when you click on an app was much faster than yesterday! I didn’t time it but still blew me away with how fast it was.

Up next on my blog post is a very family friendly program called OpenDNS. It is a life saver for filtering your network traffic. It is easy to set up, it has detailed instructions on configuring your router/pc and works like a champ! Please, if you have a family you need a filter for the internet!

Of late I’ve been studying the season we are in, more now than ever. I’ve always believed in Passover as the proper way to celebrate the Lord’s Supper. Not necessarily a heaven or hell kinda thing. Yet, there are aspects to this season that do trouble me.

This is what the Apostle Paul said about the Lord’s Supper

“I speak as to sensible people; judge for yourselves what I say. The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread. Consider the people of Israel: are not those who eat the sacrifices participants in the altar? What do I imply then? That food offered to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?

No, I imply that what pagans sacrifice they offer to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be participants with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons. Shall we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?”

~ Paul 1 Corinthians 10:15-22 [ESV]

Easter, in case you haven’t figured out what I’m trying to say, is a pagan holiday. The name Easter is derived from a goddess of fertility or a sex goddess. Boy in this day and time we live where sex has saturated every aspect of life then why not saturated the church too?

Pardon my scathing attitude toward this distraction on the Resurrection of Jesus Christ but enough is just about enough! It is time to destroy those things that detract and restore those things that bring us closer to Jesus!

No doubt someone will ask if the bunny has brought enough candy or if my kids got to see the bunny or how many eggs the found, it never fails. No doubt I’ll have someone ask us to come to their place and hunt eggs with my kids but no, it is my choice and I chose another route – this route hasn’t brought revival… I think if I invite them to prayer meeting they would probably chose to do something else than to seek God. I may be wrong, I pray so anyway.

Be Blessed!

Last night something hit me. It didn’t come gently but with a rush of emotion and realization. My young children thirsts and craves to be near their daddy. From the moment I walked in the door till the moment I kissed them goodnight they were near me. At one point I had to go shower and they clung to my legs as I walked. I had to force them to leave me alone so I could get a shower and prepare for rest. When I returned to my recliner with the aspirations of studying the Word of God they were back in my lap and constantly talking to me. Then I had to tell them that I needed some time to read they understood and settled down. This was all after reading like 8 books to them, not all of them were 3 words per page…

While studying God’s Word it struck me. Yesterday morning during prayer I didn’t want to leave God’s presence but knew I had to leave the prayer room. I need to crave the time spent with my Jesus more that anything else. So last night before I went to sleep I asked him to wake me earlier than normal so I could spend more time in prayer and seeking him. Guess what… he did! I woke up so much earlier this morning and couldn’t rest until I got out of bed and got to my prayer room. I’ve been going to the church and praying and God has been meeting me there. My prayer is that my church desire more. More of Him and less of ourselves, entertainment, hobbies, and other trivial pursuits. Don’t get me wrong there is a place for some of those things but the painful world we live in doesn’t need another prayerless believer!

It has been a most blessed time with Pastor Mark Hall from Kentucky. God moved in such a powerful way each night! Thursday night we saw God ignite the fire and begin to refresh people of God.

Friday night we had approximately 70 people packed in our little church. We had 3 churches representing.

Saturday night was the most powerful time, God moved and performed many things in our church. We were so blessed that He would take his time to visit a people like us.

Sunday my Lexie(6) stood and spoke during testimony service and she said, “I want the Holy Ghost. I have been praying in the bed and asking God for it and I really want the Holy Ghost.” I was standing looking down at her and watched as her eyes welled up with tears and she bowed her head. I asked the church to gather around her and pray. We did and she wept in the presence of God. It impacted me in a profound way! Her simple hunger does not regard me or anyone else. Her hunger and faith brought a definite presence of God that manifested itself in a special way.

Now you may be wondering what it is that I am speaking of, the Holy Ghost? Paul asked the disciples of John if they had received the Holy Ghost since they believed and the replied they didn’t know whether there be any such thing. The portion of scripture I am referring to is Acts 19:2. Some may say that they received the Holy Ghost when they believed and “accepted Jesus in their heart” or when they were baptized but scripture does not support such a premise. My child is hungry for God, not just an emotional God but the being who goes beyond emotion and feeling to the very depths of the soul. Oh I can’t wait till she receives the baptism of the Holy Ghost! That will be a glad day!

Life is a journey from cradle to grave. It doesn’t make sense sometimes. That may contribute to the adventure. Imagine if we have everything in our personal lives figured out. That would be boring.

I think life should be summed up by serving God and each other. By forgiving and being forgiven, by leading and following. By humility and honesty.

We are frail but strong, willed that is. We have little strength in our exertions. We have God’s grace, God’s spirit, and God’s love. We have so much to be thankful for.
I am thankful for this Journey. I pray that my mistakes in life help me learn in wisdom. In Jesus name!
